The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Continuum of Care (CoC) announces Deanna McCool as its newest Governing Board member. Deanna represents the Street Outreach/Homelessness Prevention/Diversion provider elected seat on the Board. Deanna is employed as the Housing Coach for the Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson, NC. This position serves to assist Ada Jenkins Center clients with securing housing, tenancy education, and first-time homeowner guidance. Deanna will also serve as an outreach worker for the North Mecklenburg unsheltered community offering assessments, connection to housing programs, and providing needed resources.
Deanna comes to North Carolina from Las Vegas, Nevada having 6 years of nonprofit experience. Deanna has held positions of domestic and sexual violence case worker, domestic violence outreach and education coordinator, family reunification case manager, and street outreach case manager. Providing street outreach in Las Vegas, where the unsheltered population was 7,000, Deanna conducted case management in flood tunnels, parks, abandoned buildings, and anywhere deemed unfit for human habitation. Deanna is a nationally certified LGBTQ+ Center Advocate, has advocated for school sex/gender diverse legislation in Nevada, sat on the LGBTQ+ intimate partner violence Nevada state committee, and has participated in round table conversations with Valerie Biden on improving the Violence Against Women’s Act for LGBTQ+ survivors. Deanna and her partner Shelby have a 4-year-old son and self-care through art and music in their free time.

Branden Lewis is a Management Analyst for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Continuum of Care (CoC). Branden serves as the community staff lead for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg CoC. Branden’s role is to coordinate program activities outlined in the HUD CoC Program Interim Rule with a primary focus on the HUD COC Notice of Funding Availability, ESG Grant Application process and CoC Governance.
