Child & Youth Homelessness in Charlotte-Mecklenburg

Integrated Data Report (2016 – 2017)

There are thousands of children and youth in households every year in Mecklenburg County that access housing or housing-related services as a result of their experience of homelessness and/or housing instability. This five-part, integrated data report describes child and youth homelessness and service utilization in Charlotte-Mecklenburg. By integrating data from multiple sources, the report is able to explore gaps and connections across multiple homeless assistance services that impact children and youth in the community. Data from 2016 to 2017 is used from the following sources: Homeless Management Information System (HMIS); Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS); and Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services (DSS).

The Child & Youth Homelessness Report is part of an annual report series: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Housing Instability & Homelessness Reports. The reports in the annual series are completed by the UNC Charlotte Urban Institute and are funded by Mecklenburg County Community Support Services.
